IIJ Group Human Rights Policy

As a company that supports critical social infrastructure and contributes to the development of the digital society, the IIJ Group respects human rights in all its business activities and aims at realizing a sustainable society.
This Policy demonstrates our commitment to respecting human rights for all employees, business partners, and other stakeholders, based on the IIJ Group's Business Philosophy, Guiding Principles for Employees, and approach to sustainability.

1. Scope of Application

This Policy applies to all IIJ Group employees.
We also ask our business partners, including suppliers, to support this Policy and expect their engagement in collaboration with us.

2. Support and Respect for International Standards

The IIJ Group supports international human rights standards, including the International Bill of Human Rights and the International Labour Organization (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
In addition, we will respect human rights in accordance with other international standards including the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, and the Children’s Rights and Business Principles.

3. Respect for Human Rights

The IIJ Group will not engage in discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, nationality, ethnic origin, social status, age, gender, property, religion, creed, gender identity or sexual orientation, physical characteristics, injury or disease, or disability. In addition, in hiring, placement, evaluation, compensation, and promotion, we will base our decisions on the aptitude, ability, experience, and performance of the individual, and will not discriminate on the basis of any of the above.
We do not allow any form of forced labor or child labor in the business activities of the IIJ Group. We will also protect freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, ensure a work environment that protects workers' safety and mental and physical health, and respect workers' rights, including fair working conditions.
In addition, we will take appropriate measures to prevent human rights violations associated with the development of new technologies in the development, design, provision, and use of AI systems and services, as well as acts that undermine individual dignity, such as defamation on the Internet including hate speech, and violation of privacy rights.

4. Compliance with Applicable Laws and Regulations

The IIJ Group complies with the laws and regulations of each country or region in which we conduct business activities.
In cases where there is a conflict between internationally recognized human rights and the laws and regulations of each country or region, we will pursue ways to maximize respect for international human rights principles.

5. Promotion Structure

The Sustainability Committee of the IIJ Group will take the lead in formulating human rights policies and managing the implementation of the matters stipulated in the policies, while the Board of Directors will supervise the activities of the Sustainability Committee.

6. Human Rights Due Diligence

In accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the IIJ Group will continuously engage in human rights due diligence in order to identify, prevent and mitigate adverse human rights impacts, verify the effectiveness of these measures, and ensure accountability.

7. Grievance and Remediation

If it becomes clear that the IIJ Group's business activities have caused or contributed to adverse impacts on human rights, we will strive to redress and remediate the situation through appropriate procedures.
To this end, in accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, we will establish a grievance mechanism that is easily accessible to all officers and employees, employees of business partners, and other stakeholders.
In addition, in order to obtain trust from stakeholders, we will not treat them unfavorably because they have consulted with the grievance mechanism, and we will strive to prevent any unfavorable treatment against them.

8. Dialogue and Consultation

The IIJ Group will utilize internal or external human rights expertise in its measures in accordance with this Policy, and will engage in dialogue and consultation with internal and external stakeholders.

9. Education and Training

The IIJ Group will engage in appropriate educational activities to ensure that all officers, employees, and others understand and implement this Policy, and will also disseminate this Policy to its business partners.

10. Information Disclosure

The IIJ Group will disclose the status of its efforts to respect human rights in accordance with this Policy and the relevant information including through our website.
